Rachel Coney, Business Manager, Portswood Primary
Previous Fundraising Experience
Prior to doing the course Rachel was the Admin Manager working term time only. She is now a full time Business Manager at the same school and enjoying the challenge of this new role. She had limited experience of grant funding and enrolled to do our course to gain skills and confidence.
Success since Completing Course
- Has mainly focused on raising funds for an extension to the dining hall.
- Received £107,000 from local authority for dining room project which was completed in the summer 2008
- £850 from football association for new football kits
Future Plans
Now planning to produce a formal fundraising strategy.

Eight successful bids, including:
- Has mainly applied for Trust funding and Government programmes
- £5,500 raised to date with a 100% success rate on applications submitted
- Projects have been musical instruments, science and outdoor development
Future Plans
Now planning a major lottery bid.
