GRANTS FOR GENERAL CHARITIES Communitybuilders Fund Opens for Applications (England) The Adventure Capital Fund (ACF) has announced that the Government's £70m Communitybuilders fund is now open for applications. Communitybuilders provides a mix of loans, grants and mentoring support to community organisations across England to improve their long-term financial stability and away from grant dependency. To support the launch of the Fund there will be a number of regional information events to provide potential applicants with more in-depth information about the Communitybuilders Fund and how it can help. http://www.communitybuildersfund.org.uk/ Funding to Support Work with Offenders (England) The NAVCA, the National Association for Voluntary and Community Action has announced that it is inviting Local Infrastructure Organisations (LIOs) and sub-regional consortia in England who deliver services that offenders and their families access to make applications for grants of up to £1,000 The final date for applications is midday on Thursday 1st October 2009. http://www.navca.org.uk/localvs/supportingoffenders/news/networkinggrants.htm ENTRUST Small Grants Scheme (UK) Under the Small Grants Programme registered Environmental Bodies (EBs) can allocate funding of up to £50,000 per year to support small projects which have the primary intent of providing, maintaining or improving public amenities. A public amenity can be described as a place where the general public can go for leisure or recreation and must be open to the public. For information on the Small Grants Programme and how to register, please click on the link below. http://www.entrust.org.uk/home/news/small-grants-scheme The Joanies Trust (UK) Registered charities working with young people aged 11 to 25 are eligible to apply for grants through the Joanies Trust, with an average value of £1,000 to support projects that offer intensive support to young people The next deadline for applications is the 31st December 2009. http://www.joaniestrust.org.uk/index.htm Museums Galleries Scotland - Main Grants Programme (Scotland) Museums Galleries Scotland the membership organisation for over 340 museums and galleries throughout Scotland has announced that its main grants programme is now open for applications. Provides grants of between £5,000 and £30,000for projects which achieve strategic change in their organisation and/or the sector. There is a two stage application process. The deadline for stage 1 is the 6th October 2009 and for final applications the deadline is the 25th January 2010. http://www.museumsgalleriesscotland.org.uk/how-we-help-members-2/grants/main-grant/ Community Facilities and Activities Programme (Wales) The CFAP is a capital grant scheme that is open to community and voluntary organisations with an annual income of less that £150,000 and provides funding for the provision of facilities within communities and for activities engaging local people which help promote the regeneration of communities. The scheme provides capital grants only. The largest grant that can be awarded is for £300,000.The closing date for applications is the 16th October 2009. http://new.wales.gov.uk/topics/housingandcommunity/grants/cfap/applyingforagrant2/?lang=en Organisational and Audience Development Fund (Scotland) The Scottish Arts Council has announced that the next deadline for Organisational and Audience Development Fund is the 5th October 2009. Under this fund, grants of between £5,000 and £30,000 are available to support arts organisations in improving their overall effectiveness. http://www.scottisharts.org.uk/1/funding/apply/organisations/acrossartforms.aspx#orgdev Erach & Roshan Sadri Foundation (UK) Charities and organisations have the opportunity to apply for grants of between £2,000 and £100,000 through the Erach & Roshan Sadri Foundation. The trustees meet four times a year March 1st, June 1st, September 1st and December 1st. The next deadline for applications is the 1st December 2009. http://www.ersf.org.uk/index.html Comic Relief (South West) Applications are being invited from community groups, residents associations, community centres, social enterprises and community interest companies and credit unions across Devon for grants up to £10,000, to support a range of activities, particularly sport.Applications can be submitted at any time up to the 31st December 2009. http://www.devoncf.com/applying_for_a_grant/index.htm Trust for London (London) The Trust for London is an independent charitable trust set up in 1986 to support small, new and emerging voluntary organisations. The Trust for London is now accepting applications and are seeking to fund areas of work which have one or more of the following aims: • To improve employment opportunities for disadvantaged people • To promote the inclusion of recent arrivals to the UK; to promote social justice • To strengthen the voluntary and community sector. The average grant is likely to be about £45,000 in total, although a significant number of grants will be smaller (between £5,000 to £30,000) while a few will be larger (more than £70,000). The Trust will accept applications from registered charities, industrial and provident societies and friendly societies. The next application deadline is the 25th October 2009. http://www.cityparochial.org.uk/cpf/grants/ Arts Council England Awards Over £3 million In The East of England (East of England) Arts Council England has announced that between January and June 2009 they have awarded a total of £3,701,558 of Grants for the arts funding to 74 organisations and 68 individual artists in the East of England. http://www.artscouncil.org.uk/regions/news_detail.php?browse=homepage&rid=1&id=1382 Union Learning Fund (England) The Union Learning Fund (ULF) has announced that Unions are now being invited to apply for funding. There is no maximum amount for bids in any one year. The type of activities that have been funded in previous years include amongst others: • The training and development of Union Learning Representatives • Projects that address low skills within the workplace • Promoting e-learning opportunities; and developing sectoral approaches to union led learning. Application form which must be submitted by 18 December 2009. http://www.unionlearningfund.org.uk/prospectus.cfm Esmee Fairbairn Foundation Biodiversity Grants (UK) Grants will be available for projects that develop a greater knowledge and understanding of certain habitats and their associated species. The Foundation will consider applications from research organisations, practical conservation charities and voluntary nature societies. Previous grants have ranged from £17,000 to £195,000. Applications can be submitted at any time. http://www.esmeefairbairn.org.uk/funding/biodiversity.html Wales for Africa Grant Scheme 2009/10 (Wales) The Welsh Assembly Government has announced that the Wales for Africa Grant Scheme 2009/10 is now open for applications. A total of approximately £270,000 has been allocated to the Wales for Africa Grant Scheme for 2010-11, of which £110,000 was awarded in the 2009-10 grant application round. Reaching Communities provides grants of between £10,000 and £500,000 to support projects that help people and communities who are most in need. The programme is open to registered charities, charitable or not for profit companies, statutory bodies, schools and social enterprises. Applications can be submitted at any time. http://www.biglotteryfund.org.uk/prog_reaching_communities.htm Comic Relief Grant (Yorkshire & Humber) Grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 are available through the Community Foundation for Calderdale to support projects that have a beneficial impact on people and communities who are excluded or disadvantaged.
