GRANTS FOR SPORT Funding to Increase Physical Activity Levels Among Girls and Young Women (Scotland) Youth Scotland has announced that Grants of up to £2,000 are available for projects and initiatives across Scotland that increase physical activity levels among girls and young women. The funding is available to groups working with girls and young women aged 12 – 18 years who are not currently taking part in physical activity. The current application deadline for this round of funding is the 1st December 2009. Future deadlines are the 1st March 2010. Sport England Small Grants Programme (England) Sport England has announced that its small grants programme is now open for applications. Under the programme, not-for-profit organisations, including sports clubs, voluntary or community organisations, grants of between £300 and £10,000 for community-level activities that help people become involved in sport, keep people in sport or help people improve their performance at their chosen sport. Applications to the scheme can be made at any time. http://www.sportengland.org/funding/small_grants.aspx Sportsmatch to Suspend Grant Making Activity (England) Sport England has announced that the budget for its Sportsmatch scheme for the 2009/10 financial year is expected to be fully allocated at the upcoming panel meeting at the end of September 2009. From October 2009, Sportsmatch will be accepting applications for projects that would spend Sportsmatch funding after 1 April 2010. Please note that Sport England’s Small Grants Programme is still accepting applications for investment of between £300 and £10,000 (the total project cost should not exceed £50,000). UnLtd Sport Relief Awards are funded by Comic Relief and provide opportunities for young people to bring communities together, to help promote understanding and solve problems through sport, arts and recreational activities. The UK wide funding programme is for 11-21 year olds, who are prepared to go the extra mile and use their passion for sport and arts to bring respect and understanding to their communities by setting up their own projects. The FA Tesco Skills Programme One million youngsters have so far learnt football skills in a fun and exciting environment – thanks to the FA Tesco Skills Programme which is funded by Sport England. The programme was launched in 2007 and gives 5-11 year olds of all abilities and backgrounds the chance to develop their football techniques with the FA’s 90 specially-trained skills coaches. FA Skills has now coached one million children, one year ahead of schedule.FA Tesco Skills is currently offering free holiday skills sessions at 47 venues across England from 17 - 28 August.
