GRANTS FOR SCHOOLS, EDUCATION & YOUNG PEOPLE Funding for Youth Media Projects (England) Mediabox, a Department for Children, Schools and Families fund to enable disadvantaged 13-19 year olds living in England. Through its Mid Mediabox scheme, grants of between £5,000 and £20,000 are available.The deadline for applications is the 22nd October 2009. http://www.media-box.co.uk/funding/mid-mediabox Funding for Sex and Relationships Education (England) The Terrence Higgins Trust Young Leaders have launched the fourth small grant scheme for Sex and Relationships Education (SRE). Young Leaders are inviting groups of young people aged 13-19 to apply for a grant to run projects around sex and relationship education. The closing date for applications is the 25th October 2009. http://www.tht.org.uk/howwecanhelpyou/youngpeople/youngleaders/applyingforagrant/ ESRC's Research Grants Scheme (UK) The Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) is offering through their Research Grants Scheme awards ranging from £15,000 to £1.5 million to eligible institutions such as universities, colleges of higher education and independent research institutes. There are two funding streams: • Standard Grants Scheme for applications of more than £100,000 • Small Grants Scheme for proposals of less than £100,000. There is no application deadline. http://www.esrcsocietytoday.ac.uk/ESRCInfoCentre/opportunities/current_funding_opportunities/research/index.aspx European Training Grants for School Education Staff (UK) UK schools looking to develop the skills of their education staff have the opportunity to apply for funding through the European Commissions Comenius – In-Service training programme. Applications have to be made via the school and the level of funding available is up to €1500 Euro 1 week, €2000 Euro for 2 weeks and up to a maximum of €2500 Euro for 6 weeks. A higher grant may be awarded where special needs or exceptionally high travel costs are involved. The next provisional closing date for applications is the 15th January 2010. http://www.britishcouncil.org/comenius-professional-development-courses.htm Partnership Grants Scheme for Primary and Secondary Schools (UK) The Royal Society has announced that the latest round of Partnership Grants is now open for applications. Through the scheme grants of between £250 and £3,000 will be available to support teachers, scientists and engineers help develop science projects. The deadline for applications is the 6th November 2009. http://royalsociety.org/page.asp?id=1948 Children in Need Distributes £14.8 Million (UK) BBC Children in Need raised a record-breaking total of £20,991,216 following the Appeal night last November. BBC Children in Need has awarded £14.8 million to 422 projects across the UK working with disadvantaged children and young people and have announced that this spring they will be allocating the first of three rounds of grants this year. The next deadline for applications is the 15th October 2009. http://www.bbc.co.uk/pudsey/grants/general_grants.shtml Youth Music Grant Making Programme (England & Wales) Youth Music, the UK’s largest children’s music charity has announced that the next closing date for applications is the 10th November 2009. Through its “Open Programme”, grants of between £5,000 and £30,000 are available to support projects that provide structured, regular and progressive music-making activities for children and young people in support of Youth Music’s goals of working with Early Years, Children and Young People in Challenging Circumstances. http://www.youthmusic.org.uk/looking_for_music_funding/Open_programme.html The Youth of Today's Reaching Out Programme Coming Soon (England) Reaching Out supports established organisations with a proven track record of success and offers grants of between £50,000 and £100,000. The aim of the programme is to: • focus on social inclusion and promoting leadership • raise the quality of youth leadership opportunities • create more opportunities for young people to influence the decisions affecting them • extend the organisation's reach to new groups in new areas.
